Woman Finds Cash Filled Shoes

Wisconsin woman says she found a wad of cash in a pair of boots she purchased at a thrift store.

Dimitra Anderson said she found the undisclosed amount of cash when she tried a pair of boots and found a sock with a bank envelope inside each of the boots, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Sunday.

The newspaper said Anderson bought the boots for $3, and did not mention the cash she found to the clerk.

Anderson and her husband Rick contacted the Journal Sentinel for help in finding the loot’s owner. If they can’t find the person, the couple say they plan to donate the money to charity.

“I knew I wasn’t going to keep it, no matter how much it was. If it’s going to be mine, it’s going to the Rescue Mission or the Humane Society,” Dimitra Anderson said.

The BBC sends this tale about a drug dealer who mailed himself out of a German prison.

The 42-year-old Turkish citizen, described as tall and broad-shouldered, had been making stationery destined for stores. When his shift ended, he climbed into a cardboard box — 59 x 47 inches — and was whisked away by express courier.

He’s still on the lam from the prison in Willich, near Duesseldorf, where he was serving a seven-year sentence. The warden believes he had accomplices.

“I was not surprised that an escape happened on my watch,” said chief warden Beate Peters. “For years I had been asking for more security guards from the government. But now they’ll have to listen.”

Gangsta Jogger vs. Rabid Fox

Authorities in Arizona say a jogger attacked by a rabid fox ran a mile with the animal’s jaws clamped on her arm and then drove herself to a hospital.

The Yavapai County sheriff’s office says the woman told deputies she was on a trail near Prescott on Monday when the fox attacked and bit her foot.

She said she grabbed the fox by the neck when it went for her leg but it bit her arm.

The woman wanted the animal tested for rabies so she ran a mile to her car with the fox still biting her arm, then pried it off and tossed it in her trunk and drove to the Prescott hospital.

The sheriff’s office says the fox later bit an animal control officer. He and the woman are both receiving rabies vaccinations.

Palin Lookalike Stripper Pageant

Some spectacled strippers are looking to score some votes of their own, just for looking like Sarah Palin. A Sin City strip club says it plans to host a lookalike contest in honor of the GOP vice presidential nominee, and is bringing in women from gentlemen’s clubs all over the country to compete.

They’ll be judged by club guests on how they resemble Palin while wearing a swimsuit and how well they debate, according to news release.

A vote will determine the winner. The prize? A $10,000 package including a trip to Washington for Inauguration Day in January.

Officials for Club Paradise Men’s Club in Las Vegas say they’re holding the contest because Palin competed as a beauty queen years ago and is widely impersonated today.

Alton Ellis R.I.P.

Alton Ellis, the Jamaican singer known as “The Godfather of Rocksteady”, passed away Friday, October 10 at Hammersmith Hospital in London. He was 70 years old.

According to an AP report citing hospital officials, “Ellis died peacefully,” and “his family did not wish to release details.” However, an obituary on the Trojan Records site points to a longstanding battle with cancer of the lymph glands as the cause of Ellis’ death.

Ellis rose to prominence in Jamaica as a ska singer for Clement “Coxsone” Dodd’s Studio One label in the early 60s, but his most influential contributions to Jamaican music came with his jump to Arthur “Duke” Reid’s Treasure Isle in the mid-60s. It was there that Ellis pioneered rocksteady, which preceded reggae by slowing down the tempo of ska, putting more direct focus on the bass, and aping the sweeter, lighter singing style of American R&B stars.

Both solo and with his vocal group the Flames, Ellis’ hits for included “I’m Still in Love With You”, “Get Ready – Rock Steady”, “Cry Tough”, “Girl I’ve Got a Date”, “My Willow Tree”, and “Dance Crasher”.

In the 70s, Ellis moved to England, where he started his own Alltone label and record store. In 2006, he was inducted in the International Reggae and World Music Awards Hall of Fame.

Monkey Waiters With Beer

Some customers claim that Yat-chan can even understand their exact orders.

“We called out for more beer just then and it brought us some beer!” said customer Miho Takikkawa, who came to the tavern specifically to meet the monkeys.

“It’s amazing how it seems to understand human words.”

The monkeys work in shifts of up to a maximum of two hours a day due to Japanese animal rights regulations.

But owner Otsuka is hoping to train another generation of monkey waiters, after receiving three new baby monkeys this year.

BMF Brothers Get 30 yrs Each!

Kids take notice everybody wants to walk the gangster walk but nobody wants to pay the consequenses. This is how it ends if your lucky most likely it’s an early trip to the cemetary.

Brothers Demetrius “Big Meech” and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory were sentenced to 30 years in prison on Friday Sept. 12, for running the cocain ring known as The Black Family Mafia. BMF is an organization that hailed out of Detroit and distributed cocain and other drugs throughout the US. It has been said that rapper Young Jeezy among many other music industry types was associated with BMF.

Via AHH:

Demetrius and Terry were apprehended in 2005 and indicted under the CCE (Continuing Criminal Enterprise) law, which like RICO charges carry life sentences.

Under the federal prison system, there is no parole option.

Seeking to avoid spending the rest of their natural lives in prison, the brothers pleaded guilty in November 2007 to the CCE charges and laundering drug money in hopes of serving the minimum 20 year sentence.

However, evidence presented by prosecutors resulted in 30 year sentences for both men. BMF was founded by the brothers in Detroit during the late 1980s.

After quickly securing valuable contacts with international coke suppliers, the organization grew to a nationwide criminal conspiracy within a few years.

The group began to draw unwanted attention from federal agents in 2003 once they established a high-profile operation in Atlanta, where they erected billboards, held lavish parties, created DVDs, and boasted of their connections with rappers Young Jeezy and Fabolous.

Also notable in the organization’s downfall was Meech’s involvement in a brazen 2003 shootout in the Buckhead nightclub section of Atlanta that left two men dead, including Sean “Diddy” Combs’ bodyguard Anthony “Wolf” Jones.

In 2005, agents raided several key BMF operations in Georgia, Michigan, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, and California.

To date, those raids have resulted in over 150 indictments of BMF members or associates, effectively dismantling the drug empire.

According to authorities, these convictions of BMF’s top members end a 15 year investigation into the Black Mafia Family’s criminal enterprise.

At their peak, Demetrius (age 40) and Terry (age 38) Flenory are estimated to have controlled a cocaine empire worth $270 million.

Sony Pictures is leaving South Korea because of sluggish sales and rampant piracy, The Korea Times is reporting this week. Sony isn’t the first studio to abandon the Korean market; according to the Times, Paramount, Universal, Buena Vista and 20th Century Fox have all ceased operations there, meaning there is no longer a major Hollywood studio operating in South Korea.

Korean DVD sales have been in a free fall in recent years. The newspaper quotes estimates for 2008 of some $285 million vs. $673 million in 2002. At the same time, blazing fast broadband is ubiquitous. The country’s average broadband penetration rate by household hit 90.1 percent last year; in Seoul, the rate was 107.8 percent. Korea’s broadband revolution is often touted as a sign of things to come for the rest of the world, but is the same true for the death of its DVD market?

There’s no question that film-swapping broadband users are behind at least some of the industry’s woes in Korea. In a recent survey, almost 50 percent of Korea’s Internet users have admitted to downloading movies from the Internet, and the typical user is downloading about a movie a week. Copyright isn’t even an issue with the folks that haven’t been getting their Hollywood blockbusters online. Instead, they simply deemed downloading as too complicated.

The slump of DVD sales numbers has also taken its toll on DVD rental stores. The Korea Times is reporting that there were 10,000 of these Blockbuster-type stores back in 2001, but the number was down to 3,500 at the end of last year. Finally, box office sales have been slightly down in 2007 as well, but some attribute this to the changing box office landscape rather than to piracy.

The biggest mall in America with a hydroponics lab dead smack in the middle. Who ever had the balls to do this is either incredibly brave or incredibly stupid or a bit of both.

via 13 Central Florida

MIAMI — The Drug Enforcement Administration discovered something unexpected in the Mall of the Americas.

DEA agents found a hydroponics lab with more than 200 marijuana plants, standing 3 to 6 feet tall in the air and worth millions of dollars, in a storage area on the second floor of the mall.

Authorities said the electricity that powered the lab was diverted from the mall’s main power supply.

No arrests have been made. Authorities said officials with the Mall of the Americas are cooperating with the investigation.

Out here in Cali one time is cracking down on the new hands free cell phone law, hence this new invention.

Inventor Cary Sperry has an answer for California drivers who can no longer make or take calls now that its illegal to use a hand-held cellphone while driving.

When I heard the news, I thought: ˜Gas is expensive, Bluetooth is expensive, lots of folks have to do business on the phone while theyre sitting in traffic  what would I do if I had a job? Sperry told reporters, who gathered outside the storage space currently serving as home to his unnamed start-up company, as well as him and his seventeen cats.

Sperrys patent-pending innovation features jaw-strap technology that turns your existing cellphone into a hands-free device  simply by taping it to your head.

I created this not so much to help my fellow man as to hopefully make a shitload of money for me, Sperry told reporters.

4 Amazing Ancient Cities

This stuff is from an incredible article @ lifeinthefastlane

Popularly known by their names of color as much as their historical designations — the ancient Blue City known as Jodhpur, neighboring Jaipur known as the Pink City, its former capital the Amber City, and Morocco’s Red City of Marrakech — are as much astonishingly beautiful as they are remarkably unusual.

Jodhpur
Jodhpur — known as the Blue City for the color of its buildings — is the second largest city in Rajasthan, the largest state of the Republic of India, standing at the edge of the large, inhospitable Great Indian Desert (Thar Desert), which has an edge paralleling the Sutlej-Indus river valley along its border with Pakistan.

Most of the buildings in the old quarter are painted blue to signify the Bhraman (Priest) class, but non-Brahmins soon followed suit, as the color was said to deflect the heat and deter mosquitoes, and suddenly everything turned blue, creating a broad vision of indigo from the hilltops.

Dominated by the monstrous and imposing Mehrangarh Fort that appears to grow from out of a sheer rocky ridge 410 feet (125 meters) high of which the Fort is built of right in the middle of town, the ancient city is surrounded by a 16 mile (10 kilometer) long wall, which has 6 massive gates — the Eastern gate Suraj (Sun) Pol, Western gate of Chand (Moon) Pol, Nagauri gate, Merati gate, Jalori gate, and the Siwanchi gate.

Jodhpur Blue City 7

There are only 3 gates facing in these directions, including the Northern gate which faces toward the ancestral capital of Amber, while many gates face South, and all used to be closed at sunset and opened at sunrise.

The walls of the fort are up to 120 feet (36 meters) high and 70 feet (21 meters) wide, enclosing some exquisite structures and collections of palanquins, howdahs, royal cradles, miniatures, musical instruments, costumes and furniture. The ramparts of Mehrangarh Fort provide not only remarkably preserved cannons, but a breath-taking view of the city.

This was the way that the Rajputs built their formidable forts and to good effect, as Mehrangarh Fort was never successfully stormed, but the 6 gates still bear visible scars of battle.

The fort was built about a century after Jodhpur was founded in 1459 by the Rajpur chief Rao Jodha, for whom the city is named after.

The old quarter is contained within the confines of the fort, with mostly winding, narrow passages and alleys impossibly cramped with street vendors, shops, bazaars, rickshaws, bicycles, bustling people and animals of all shapes and sizes. The present city has expanded from outside of its walls.

Peeping Tom Falls Off 10th Floor!

A 44 year old Hong Kong man accidentally fell off a 10th floor balcony while trying to video tape his next door neighbor showering.

peeping-ton-fall Peeping Tom Accidentally Falls Off 10th Floor picture

The 29 story building was designed so that two units have their bathroom windows right next to each other. This made it easy for the man to climb over and peep on his neighbor.

The victim, a 28 year-old sales lady, was taking a shower when she noticed a strange hand holding a cell phone outside the bathroom window.

She screamed for help and saw the person outside climb back into the next room, which was a vacant apartment.

Her husband and other residents blocked the door entering the next door apartment and called the police.

The peeping tom, realizing his only way to escape was out the window, climbed out the window back onto the ledge.

Due to the dark and slippery conditions, the man lost his footing and fell 10 floors to the ground. Luckily he hit a tree branch which broke his fall a little.

He was found alive but critically injured with a broken rib puncturing his lung.

He was taken into custody and rushed to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.
